You got all that from a picture?
Geez, I was lost by the second sentence in Barthes essay. I could not believe that the Panzani advertisement held so much meaning. I did get a few thoughts out of the article:
-There are various messages located within an image.
- The intrepretation of an image relies heavily on your culture. I would like to add that I think gender, knowledge, and financial status also contribute? Anyone agree?
- What is a non-coded iconic message?
- I really liked the denoted and connoted explanation. My understanding of this was "here is what you see" and "here is what you feel"
-Linguistic messages are abundant within our civilization. But haven't you ever seen a picture that spoke louder than any words could possibly hope to?
-Does a linguistic message present on an image lead a viewer to a different interpretation of the image?
-I have never thought of photographs in the way Barthes article does.
-What does all of this mean for computers and writing??
I am glad that I have gotten the article out of the way. I felt bad that I did not read it when I was supposed to. Not being a campus student really has it's downside sometimes. I hope that the complexity of the article will still allow us to have a decent class discussion. Ta-Ta.

I almost handed out the article Wednesday. I regret not doing so. But we didn't think we'd see Madelyn this soon.
I hope you'll bring this stuff up in class today. I've always liked this article and would enjoy discussing it with y'all.
The last question requires some speculation: feel free to take a stab at it!
